DivX Box

I'm building a "DivX" set-top box. I would like to have 2 RCA tv-outs, or an RCA and a S-video. It won't have a monitor obviously, but it will have an LCD that uses RCA composite input, that's why I need two. I was wondering what mobos and TV-tuner cards have TV-out. So far I've found:

Cards:
Hauppage PVR-350 ($135.95)
KWORLD
ATi AIW VE ($59.00)

Mobos:
Asus A7N266 (with AGP expansion card) ($64)
MSI K7N2GM-L ($86)
Biostar M7NCG ($66)
VIA EPIA M1000 ($150.89-Barton=$85.89)

I am looking for a fairly cheap card, and it needs to be cool and quiet since it's a SFF box. Other stuff I'm using:

1GB Corsair XMS 2-2-2-5 1T 2700 ($186)
Barton 2500 Mobile (only 45w!) ($95)
Thermaltake Silentboost ($26)
MSI 48x24x48x16 ($46)
5.6" LCD ($99) from Parts Express
PW70-A DC-DC PSU ($54.95)
ITPS Regulator ($39) both from Mini-box
80GB WD SE ($70)

I need to know if the onboard video will work with only a TV, and if switching between the LCD and TV would be a very good option, so I don't need an extra card. Also, a front-loading or trayless DVD or DVD/CD-RW or a slimline one would be cool. If anyone knows where I can get this stuff cheaper or better ideas, especially for the PSU and TV-out, PLEASE post and thanks in advance.

please tell me why ur using Corsair XMS LL on a HTPC, i just can not justify that ram on that comp, some kingston value ram would be fine and hella cheaper

Two words: Dual Channel
With that much 2-2-2-6 1T timing RAM, it will be able to encode the video it collects at amazing speed. I want it to be able to rip and encode DVDs into DivX. Plus it should ensure smooth video playback.

you can encode at real time divx with a 2200+ and 512 ram anything over just makes shur that it has some head room.
I have a friend that does it all the time and his system isn't running nearly as fast as your specs will.

While you seem to know what dual channel is, you should know u don't need Corsair XMS ram to do it, u can do it with anything, like plain ol kingston value ram. Also, its been proven that low latencies have at the most a 5% increase in benchies. I was tryin to help u out, with that extra money u could get a bigger hd for more divx encodes. The speed of ram doesn't make that much difference in encoding. A gig of value ram would do the same thing.

Tom's Hardware said that it could increase speed by up to 10%, and with more expensive RAM usually comes more stability, espeially when OC'd. I don't think I will OC it and that's why I want the timing to be as fast as possible. Does anyone know where I can get/research heat pipes? I can't find much info on them. Also, if someone knows how much slower 2-3-2-6 would be, or a website that has more info on RAM timings that Ton's I would appreciate it.

I have now decided to get Mushkin Black Hi-Perf Level II 2700 512MB 2-2-2 instead of the Corsair. I'm going to buy two sticks of it, not a twinpack. I've heard that most people can run it dual channel without the twinpack. Is this true?

You can run anything in dule channel as long as it is the same kind of memory (brand, timming and the like) I'm very afraid that you have been taken in by buzz words. Look up specs for others who are building similar systems. Divx requires sheer raw prossesor power. As long as you have over 512 ram, the bottleneck is the prossesor, not the ram. Take the $$ and get a faster chip if your not going to OC that 2500+
