Divider performance hit?

Is there a huge hit in peformance when using a memory divider? I have an Athlon64 2800+ currently running at 1.98 GHz by way of a 220 FSB, no dividers. So far no glitches anywhere but I do get errors in memtest. I'm going to be upping the FSB until it can't go any more but wanted to know if the performance hit from a divider outweighs the extra headroom it may give the overclock?

If you are getting errors then eventually you are going to start BSOD, programs crash etc. Try upping your vdimm voltage and run memtest again, or relax timings. Dividers are just fine with Athlon 64 as clock speed is more important.

Example you can run 245 x 9.5 = 2200mhz @ 200mhz ram 166mhz divider
Im running 265 x 9.5 = 2390 mhz @ 220mhz ram 166mhz divider
