Distrubuted Bowling Simulation

I went bowling the other night and had a few drinks and came up with a crazy though: How many possibilities are there for each possible score in bowling (0-300). Well, there is approx 1.6e+18 different combinations possible, so I have started writting a simulator which will do this work and will eventually get it to be distrubuted. You can find it HERE. I have been running the single user client for a while now and I have produced a graph in excel. Here is a sample image

Well... maybe it's just me but 90% of the reason I do distributed is because it will hopefully someday help save lives. I wouldn't have much interested in something like you're doing as it has no real value to humanity. But I'm sure people would be willing?
 
Well definitely no long term interest, but maybe a little short term help like with TekNinja and his rendering project. A couple hours here or there. Wouldn't switch it over long term and leave it though.

Although I have to say I'm not drawn to this one like I was with Teks. It just doesn't bowl me over. ;)

I'm kind of split on this one, but with folding@home, I don't have any cycles to spare.
 
That's kinda my position right now, with Summer heat on and systems shut off, the few I have running I really don't want to spare off of Folding.
 
should anyone point out that bowling is not uniquely dependant of probability so this representation is useless? you cant predict something based on skill using probability

ex. if someone bowls a 220-230 score 5 times in a row, the probability of them repeating it or at least getting over 200 is quite high, although according to your estimates its damn near impossible. I mean even if you had a robot play the game and made "random shots" it still would be dependant on so many things...like if your robot used a speed range of 10-30 kph it would score differenty than a robot using a 20-40 speed, or one using a fixed speed, or one with random lateral rotation etc etc.

basically other than the double peaks found in the middle there was really no point and you could have stopped after you determind that, and that may not even exist if you change your parameters.

Yeah we should probably just let it die before it really strikes out. However, if and when this project starts I would like to see frame times that are very short. Even with the short frame times I would still have to split my time between multiple projects. So that would be a 7-10 hour split for bowling and the rest for Folding.

Now I have to ask Tigerbiten, do you brits bowl? I know you have all sorts of "lawn games" and an odd sort of football....but I've never met a brit bowler..only seen you folk wearing the hat of the same name ;)

Yeah, Letni just wanted some help with his bowling sim. We've screwed this thread up so bad he must feel like he got kicked in the ball bag. :)
