That's pretty funny/crazy/sad... I saw my first disposable Digi Cam the other day.

not if you want your vid..

After shooting, customers have to return the recyclable camcorder to their local CVS store and its contents would then be transferred onto a DVD disc to view and share for a $12.99 processing fee.

and it saves video on a memory chip instead of tapes.

probably a proprietary format. however, it would be fun to dismantle. if you get one post some pics.

This place has a front page? ;)
Hadn't seen that article. Very cool. Surely this will be adapted for home use by the more creative geeks among us, it's just a matter of time. If there were any CVS phamacies in this island, I might just have checked it out.

If I see one I will pay $30 just to take it apart and see what's in there.

That means shooting your own pron is out of the question? :D

There is a CVS right next to my apartment, I will have to check it out on my way back from work today.

Maybe...However; I thought that they don't let you develop nude pics because they look at them as they go through the machine. Now, if they have an auto process to develop video are they going to watch it?

...I mean aside from the bored teens (hoping to see porn) that work at these places sometimes.

Also I went to CVS and no camcorder :(

That is why you develop your own pictures =)

I read a review and it said that the video quality is approx that of VHS so kinda grainy, not all that great, max record time of 20mins. its, $20.00 or so and costs 12.99 to have it processed. that sux.

I give it a week before someone's hacked it (probably USB). If the data is encrypted/new format (like the disposable digital camera data is), there'll have to be a software hack too.

If someone can hack it, as to make it reuseable and let u offload to your PC it may just be worth $20.

Whatever happened with the hack a day convention? Did they figure out how to mod it so its reusable? I'd be interested to see what they do with the power supply to make it reusable and how hard it is to extract the video and erase the contents.

I'm getting it. I am no pro electrician and will most likely break it, but i want to see what's in there. :D

Well, I don't know the current status, but all they managed to do was get the pinouts and hook it to USB. It needs a driver to interface with the system, and no one had cracked it last I checked.

CVS here has em for 30 bucks :)

i aint buying one tho

too rich for my blood

if anyone wants any. paypal me $35-36 bucks for it and ill ship it to ya

($5-6 for shipping)

I just bought one. It ended up being $22 because I had a coupon :D

Anyway, I really haven't messed around with it too much. It seems very cool. It uses 2 AA batteries, that are easily accessible. The LCD looks very nice for somehing so cheap. It's about 32mmx24mm. Also there is some sort of connector at the top (covered by the sticker).

I don't want to break it, but I am ready to bust this sucker open :p

Well, I was kinda hoping to find a memory card of some sort (i don't know why), but what I found was onboard memory.

One Hynix chip and one samsung. I don't know much about memory, but i am guessing that one chip is used to run the camera and the other is permanent storage.

I'm sure that this could easily be turned in to a reuseable camera if one had the knowhow and time. ;)

That person is definitely not me. I will post some pix when I get a camera. :p

The current Consumet Reports has a blurb about these and say they suck.

Bah I was hoping it had flash memory or something that can be replaced with a larger version.

I know digital disposable cameras as photograph camereas...use SD cards usually that you can take out...but they are only 32mb
