Displayport to HDMI adapter for Eyefinity?

That looks a little like the one fanboy is using for his eyefin setup.. he runs a dvi to vga adapter on the end of it (and the native dvi ports on the card) and runs all vga ports on his LCDs.. I think if you plan on doing something like that you might get away with it.. but running dhmi to the lcd.. not sure on that. it's a good question though..

Does anybody know if one of these Displayport -> HDMI adapters will work for Eyefinity?

Many folks have stated Displayport ->svga works, I'm just wondering if the HDMI adapter will work. It's a nice cheap option.

It says right there in the description (good job Monoprice) that this is a passive adapter meaning it won't work. You need an active component in the adapter to translate DP to either DVI or HDMI.

I actually had the same question on this.. i was considering dumping my matrox triplehead2go and going with a 5850 (or maybe 5770) ati card.. but then i saw notes on this display port..

So one screen must have this connection in some way?

So all you need is an active DP to HDMI (or dvi) cable (powered?) and you can use a display that doesnt have a display port i take it? (Add $100?)

I would have 3 HDMI's on my lcds.. the card has 2 dvi and 1 hdmi and 1 display port..

Can you still use 3 independent (non spanned) screens in windows.. but the usual great spanned resoltions in fsx or racing games (say 3xxx X 7xx or higher)?

Yes
Yes
No. No signal is present. Either HDMI or 2nd DVI from what I've read.

Thanks..

On your last point..

You mean when not in "game mode" that display port wont emit a signal, giving me 3 distinct monitors?

I guess i'd have to have a toggle still, on the one display port? (ie: hdmi coming from card to toggle, and display port to toggle then toggle to hdmi).. i already have a few of these toggles for triplehead which work ok, was hoping they wouldnt be needed.

I'm not sure which would take priority if you had 2nd dvi & hdmi connected. I'd imagine that windows would not even recognize the 3rd display in that case.

yeah perhaps. I guess wost case I just pull the other cable when not spanned. Thigh this toggle is a switch. I'd think it would work. Guess there is only one way to tell
