Displayport audio for 5850

Hi guys,
One of the updates that came with the 9.12 hotfix was displayport audio. Has anybody got this to work? If you have could you please let me know how you did it?

I can't find how you would enable this feature or if it even needs enabling. but I have a XFX 5850 connected to a u2410 via displayport and can't seem to get any audio from it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
 
Display Port audio is not supported yet, it may have been a typo, Audio is only passed through HDMI.
 
It's not a typo, the DP spec allows for audio to be carried just like HDMI. I'd double check to make sure that your monitor does support DP audio. Remember the U2410 does not have speakers, you need to have the soundbar and make sure it's connected to the monitor's audio out jack.
 
Interesting. Anyone know what kind of audio bandwidth/standards can be carried by display ports? My receiver has a DP input, but I ignored it thinking that HDMI was fine. If I ever get another HDMI device it might be nice to swap over to DP for my PC.

It's all digital, so whatever you can throw at it, it should support it.
 
What kind of driver is needed to pass the audio? There's a pretty distinct HDMI audio driver in the ATI package and a more detailed version at Realtek, but there's no mention of a display port one.
Also, what kind of audio bandwidth will it have? SPDIF's are digital, but they can't handle the HD codecs or multi-channel PCM.
