Displayport 1.2 woes

First, anyone know if this little adaptor works with 1.2, like the ones that ship in Sapphire's video cards?

Second, if not, where the hell can I find such an adaptor? I finally found a long enough cable (>6ft) that carries the signal, but I'm getting an HIS video card that cheaps out and doesn't include a miniDP to DP adaptor.

Anything Displayport 1.2-related doesn't exist anywhere! I thought 1.2's been out for a couple of years already - why can't we find cables for them that aren't from shady eBay vendors, and, even then, only 6 feet long?

At this rate, I'll never have 3d at a comfortable distance...

Is DisplayPort 1.2 not backwards compatible with DisplayPort 1.1 adapters? Or are you actually using all the 1.2 bandwidth?

my monitor(u2410 dell) has a diplay port full size my video card, msi lightning 7970 has mini display port.
it's 8 feet long the perfect lenght. so i have 1 cable, 1 end display port the other end of cable mini display port (both male connectors)

it by Monster Cable the only one left in the store Frys....$89.00...
i have 30 days get my full money back.......

i've seen monoprice for: 4 dollars and 7 dollars, the monster cable dp had "nitrgen" sealed in the cable to keep speeds going faster......
does anyone know about this, are you guys happy going from dvi or hdmi and seeing a big difference with the dp cabe 1.2....
comback.....

DisplayPort 1.2 inputs/outputs are backwards compatible with DisplayPort 1.1... so you should be perfectly fine. If the DisplayPort 1.1 cable is shorter than 2 meters (6ft) it may be able to transmit the similar bandwidth as a DisplayPort 1.2 (depends on the copper gauge [AWG]). DisplayPort cables that are longer than 6 ft are not VESA compliant - if it is longer than 2 meters the cable requires certified testing to ensure it meets the specififcations/compliance to be designated as either 1.1 or 1.2... DisplayPort 1.2 is only important if you are planning to "Daisy Chaining" multiple monitors from one DisplayPort output. If you are not planning to Daisy Chain (there are no monitors that support that yet except for the Apple Cinemas) - then you are fine with just a DisplayPort 1.1 cable.

For more information you should visit the DisplayPort and/or the VESA websites.

Some of the newer Dells support daisy chaining, like the U2713H, U2413 and U2913WM.

no daisy chain 1 monitor only. i have the 1.2 dp cable now, very very fast with new msi 7970 lightning card. and freon cooled cpu.

i spoke today with sales director at accell mfg, this dp/mdp 1.2 cable is certified by AMD for eyefinity use.
it's about $20. shiped, i got a 7 foot long and i got another one 6.6 feet.
im taking back the $89. monster cable dp/mdp which also 1.2.
im returning this for the money.

They have two DisplayPort (One input and One output)? I looked at the specs for the Dells and they all only have one DisplayPort 1.2... Last time I checked only the Thunderbolt Displays (Apple Cinemas) had two DisplayPort (Thunderbolt) connections. Correct me if I am wrong.

Cool you got it resolved... Accell is one of the few companies that have their cables tested and certified by DisplayPort (VESA).

They have two in (mini and regular) and one output.

Thanks for the correction... I just read a review that confirmed your statement... has anyone tried daisy chaining them yet to see if they can get full 2560x1440 resolutions on the daisy chained monitors?

Top of the Line AMD certified Eyfinity Displayport to Mini Displayport 1,2 made by Accell for Msi 7970BE lightning
i have 2 of these 6.6 ft and 6 feet
works as good as it gets......$18. plus shipping
