Display woes, need advice badly

Hi everyone, i'm in need of advice.

My story begins in november when i decided to replace my ageing Samsung 22" Monitors. I picked up some black friday specials (2) which ended up being crap. Took them back and ordered 2 Samsung P2450H displays from newegg. Well they had a really bad green push problem i couldn't get over, so a few weeks later i returned them and ordered 2 Samsung BX2450 from newegg (they were new, not open box as the link indicates).

I've had them for about 8 days now, but i'm not very happy with them either. They're better than the P2450H models i had, but they don't seem very vibrant with colors, kinda BLAH, nothing really stands out. They also have a noticable tendancy to show reds as dark orange-reds.

I'm afraid i'll be returning these as well, i'm just not happy with them. But i need advice on what to get now. I've been a pretty loyal Samsung display customer for years, i've never been disappointed until now. I'd sure like to stay with Samsung unless something way better is available. If anyone has a bit to help, i'd like some advice on what to get.

Here are my needs:

24" (or higher)
$250 price cap (per unit, thus $500 total as i need 2)
1920x1080 or 1920x1200 resolution
Suitable for gaming and graphics work
Decent response time and color gamut
Nice vibrant colors (no odd color pushes)
DVI or HDMI interface

I don't expect miracle monitors for $250 each, but i can't afford IPS displays at the current time, unfortunately. I know it's some pretty steep needs for the budget, but i figure you guys with a wealth of knowledge might have some models in mind that would come close to meeting my needs and be on my budget.

Thank you in advance to anyone who has suggestions.

If you can go down in size to 23 inch, Dell u2311hs can be had on sale within your budget.

I'm not sure why you'd choose TN at 24" over the Dell U2311H for the sake of an inch though..

Yep, I bought a G245H after reading NCX's review. It's my first flat panel after coming off over a decade of gaming on CRTs.

Games look great, the colors really pop, no response time issues that I can detect, and everything is very sharp and clear. Super happy with this monitor and the price is right ($220 or so).

edit- 1920x1080, has HDMI and DVI (I use DVI), 24"

Dell has had a ton of monitors over the years, some good some bad. Blanket statements like "Dell monitors are not good" are uninformed.

Well because if i went with 23" in the 16:9 format, i'd have less vertical real estate than the old 22" 16:10 monitors they would be replacing. :(

Don't get me wrong, if the 24" version of the U2311H wasn't $550 i'd do it in a heartbeat.

How was the quality going from an IPS to a TN monitor, is it really as a big difference as people make it out to be?

So of the three suggested, which would u all say is the best for me to try next, Acer G245H, Dell P2411H, or Dell U2311H?

What of the ASUS VW246H, is it any good?

The Dell P2411H is meant for office use, discount that for gaming.

The Acer will look better then the U2311H at the cost of viewing angles and reflections due to the glossy screen (which also gives it the color vibrancy and clarity over the Dell). The Dell has has very poor quality control, you are most likely to get at tinted panel and there are no subsitutes as the U2311H is the best IPS panel on the market for games/films.

Contrast and color wise they are very similar. I wouldn't worry about the response time, both are more than sufficent and have low input lag.

So you think i'm likely to get a bad deal with dell? Sorry if i'm a little confused, does that mean you'd go with the U2311H, or the acer?

CNET seems to think highly of the Samsung PX2370 and Samsung XL2370, are these any good? Or am i barking up the wrong tree?

I just bought the Asus VE247H and am very pleased with it. I also was just coming from a 19" crt and this is my first lcd and its LED at that. I have no complaints. Yes the view angles can be bad if you looking at the sides but if your planning on using it while sitting in front of it for gaming then it's not an issue. Of course that one is 23.6 not a full 24".

Owned the PX2370, it used Edge Lit LED's, because the it uses blue LED's to illmuinate the screen it's tinted blue. The gamma and black levels are completely fudged through HDMI as well making console use a nightmare. I've seen about 6 PX2370's in different stores and they all had the blue tint. Respsone time is excellent and the default color accuracy is good, however the contrast is below average at 120cdm/2 lumiance.

Prad didn't liked the XL2370 due to screen uniformity issues as well. Some of the store models I've seen were fine, otheres weren't. In theory it's great according to Digital Versus. For the record Cnet is horrible. They say every screen has no ghosting or input lag and don't provide any real details.

I meant make up your own mind between the Acer and Dell. The Acer will look better but doesn't offer the viewing angles of the Dell and relfects light due to the glossy screen (if you look at my first post I linked my youtube review go to the 1:30 mark to see how it relfects light). The Dell's are pretty much gaurenteed to come with some sort of screen tinting and backlight bleed, though Dells warranty service gets great rep.

No one has properly tested the Asus models so I can't really comment. I prefer to go with tested models.

I was also interested in the PX2370 based on those same CNET reviews until I read this and went with the Acer-

I'm still loving the G245H. Feels like one hell of a deal at $220. The glossy screan is a non-issue for me. I love to play in the dark, and even have room-darkening blinds in my game room, and things look fantastic. Of course your mileage may vary with this.

I also looked into some of the Dells, but didn't feel like going through two or three before I got a good one.
