What exactly is a display port?
This is the first card I`ve owned that has one.
What are the benefits to using this port? Compared to the HDMI port and the DVI port.

Unless you're looking at running 120Hz on high resolutions or mucking about with Eyefinity/3D Surround, there are no particular benefits to the user between DVI, HDMI, and Displayport. There is absolutely no image quality difference between DVI, HDMI and Displayport. If you've got a choice, use the DVI first, because it will be the least likely to have EDID or HDCP trouble of the three.
