Yes, I know this was in here a long time ago, and I have Googled it. I think I'm just using to long of a cable.

Anyways, I have a AMD 6970 2GB. Monitor is a ZR30W 2560x1600.

I have a 9.8 feet/3 meter Display Port cable, with a Mini display port to display port adapter.

Now my issues is, every few seconds or when ever I move the mouse or change something on the screen, the picture goes out and then comes back.

It all works fine with a DVI cable. I would just prefer using a DP cable.

sounds like a bad cable or port

i got a displayport to mini dp cable off mono price about 6ft long cost me $10 no flickering

I know exactly what you are talking about. I also have an HP ZR30W with the same issues. The problem here is the DP to miniDP converter. You're probably using the adapter included with your 6970 card. This converter degrades the signal quality leading to the flickering.

Using a DVI-D cable leads to no flickering. Using a DP-DP cable also leads to no flickering. I would try what 123Lanoix suggested and buy a DP to miniDP cable. Also, try getting as short a cable as possible to lessen the degradation of signal quality.

I bought a 10ft DP to miniDP cable from Monoprice. Several times throughout the day my monitor will also flicker. A couple times it's turned completely black. Turning the monitor off and then back on fixes it.

I wonder if 10ft is too long of a cable. Any idea why this would cause it?
