Display Going to Sleep

I have a XFX Fury X card installed. On the HDMI port I have my monitor hooked up via HDMI/DVI cable. On one of the display ports coming from the FURY X card I have DISPLAYPORT/HDMI cable hooked up to my HDTV. I can press "WIN P" to duplicate the screen so I can play games on the HDTV but when I go back and hit "WIN P" and select monitor the monitor goes to sleep.

I restarted the computer and the same things happens, the monitor says "going to sleep" no input found.

I then have to unplug the DISPLAYPORT/HDMI cable from the back of the GPU and I get a signal.

Before I bought the GPU I had a HDMI cable hooked up to the back of my motherboard connecting the HDTV and the other hdmi connected to my monitor and I never had this problem.

How do I fix this? So that I can switch back and forth between the monitor and HDTV and not lose signal?
