Display choice . . . opinions?

I was looking for a new display, for the gaming rig i'm building for myself. for the longest time, i've sworn off lcd screens because of the cost and the poor gaming response to them. after looking around, i think i've got it down to either a 8ms 17 incher or a 19 inch CRT

any suggestions? are they crap? is there something that i'm totally passing up? i'm trying to stay in the $200 ballpark, as the wife starts to scoff at anything higher.

this will be powered by either an x800xl or 6800gt (haven't picked yet . . .)

In that price range and lower I would look for an off-lease 21" Trinitron tube CRT.
 
if you only want to spend $200, then that's probably the best you're gonna do.

IF, you would like to spend a little (ok, more than a little) more, you can get a much higher quality (Good For Gaming) monitor here. there is a clearance section too, with some alright deals.

Wow, I didn't know that there were any of those .24 Diamondtron's still laying about, let alone carried by the likes of CompUSA. They even have free shipping on it (made up by charging tax of course). Though keep in mind that shipping is about $50, at least, for something that heavy.
 
Alright, picked up a refurb. Doesn't come with the stupid looking blue shield either, which is nice.
 
LaCie 19" CRT, refurb, is $199 on their website. $399 for the 22" refurb, which I'm seriously considering to replace my aging, 19" Samsung 955DF.

The anti-glare hood apparently is worth $400, since it's only available with a new monitor. :eek:
