Disney to offer cell service in Japan

Disney apparently has plans to start offering cell phone service in Japan, of all places. In conjunction with Softbank, a current Japanese provider, Disney will design custom handsets and sell them in Japan bundled with service. I knew there was demand for cute cartoon things in Japan, but this is out of hand!

Disney aims to win 1 million users by targeting families with an offer of handsets and downloads featuring Disney characters, the paper said.

They already had a phone service here called Disney Mobile, and it did not make any money (it used the Sprint network, so...), they are shutting it down at the end of this year.
