Alot of you may know that earlier I started continuing work on Tobit's original diskless client codenamed "BigOs". Well I have some news.

I ran into a bit of trouble intergrating cd support, and scrapped the project. Started on a new one a couple days ago, BigOs Version 1.2 is in the works now and uses Ubuntu 10.04 on a diskless client (either USB or CD).

This will only have 1 option when you boot it up, but will have all major driver support for NIC cards and threading options.

You will get a menu available, but only for information (cpu speed and memory amount). Right now its only for A3 units..... but anyway

expect more information soon.

Btw, I was tired writing this, so forgive major inaccuracies in my l33t linux speech!

sounds good, any estimate on the size of the thumbdrive required? I'm guessing since there is going to be a CD version a 2GB thumbdrive should be ok?

For A3 I think 2gb is fine. For -bigadv I can see a good chunk of RAM for a RAMdrive for all the info a -bigadv normaly writes to the HDD.

So when do we get it? I asked months ago for *something* and nobody responded...

Does Ubuntu 10.04 even fold? Back when I tried a beta version in early April, it did not. Hopefully it was fixed for the official release.

Ran 10.4 for almost a month before I started testing bigOS for Tobit and am still running it on nexus.

Preformance is very very similar.

Doesnt the linux client run both A2 and A3? I didnt think there was separate apps.

Im only using 10.04

It does fold btw

2GB Thumb-drive for A2, A3 folding, however there will be an install option, so you can install it if you feel like doing -bigadv

Another 2-3 weeks..... im gonna be doing initial beta testing within the next week and a half.
