I just got my hands on a Dell storage server for work. I've got 10x 300gig 10k sas disks and I am trying to figure out how I should break up the disks in raid arrays. I will also be pulling 4 disks from the current server to pop into the storage server.
For guests I have:
1 exchange/file server
1 sql/shop software server
1 terminal server for our office crew
1 terminal server for our shop floor
1 dc
1 terminal server hosted for another company
a few test servers that are more non-production oriented
The office server has 20 users and the shop server has 16 stations. sql server is primary used for the shop software which is db intensive.
We also run backup exec from the hyper-v host to capture these.
Part of me says to bust it down and put the exchange server on its own array, put the 2 terminal servers on their own array and everything else on its own array and call it good.
We do a full nightly backup to an external drive.
Thoughts? I want this thing to rip. For kicks I might put all 10 disks in a raid 0 array and bench them
