I get that error after taking my 80GB drive (old primary) and using it for other purposes. I then took my 200GB storage drive and am now using that as my primary. I formatted the storage drive and installed windows xp on it right before i took out the 80gb. As soon as I took out the 80GB, I keep getting that error. The hard drive is set to no jumper mode, with auto detect primary master in bios. Once again, the error is DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER

oh yeah i'm using windows xp

when I changed the the access mode to LBA the error is;

A disk read error occurred
Press CTRL + ALT + DEL to restart

edit: It says ATA100, isn't it supposed to be ATA133?

When you formated & install Windozes on your 200 GB drive with the 80 GB attached Windozes saw the 80 GB drive was still the active drive and it installed the "boot.ini" files on the 80 GB drive not the 200 GB one.
So when you removed the 80 GB drive your system had no boot file hence the error message.
You best bet is to reformat & reinstall Windozes with only the 200 GB drive installed.
That way your sure where your boot files go.
Just make sure when you reformat that the 200 GB drive is the C: drive and not some other letter.
If its not C: then delete the partion and reboot. This will force Windows to fix the partion letters.

Luck.......:D

The only time I've seen that error is either when there is no operating system installed or the wrong hard drive is set to boot from.
As you have installed an copy of Windozes its not that.
So go into the bios and check that the drive is part of the boot sequence.

Luck.......:D
