Discontinued Storm?

I just ordered a Storm and put together my own "Apex" kit with mostly swiftech parts (comes out ~15 cheaper than the kit). If you Froggle the "Switech Storm" you will see most places have it on sale for around ~60. Some places are out of stock now and others low stock, so I believe they are discontinuing the water block. I bet it has to do with manufacturing costs as that's why swiftech kept stressing "economies of scale" in its apogee release. The acetal is CNC machined in the storm, yet injection molded with the apogee What do you guys think?

Also, after reading this thread at procooling, and hearing from the designer of the storm and its jet impedance, I have doubts too that the apogee could beat it with a moderate/strong pump.

Could very well be, for now anyway. If independent results show the storm beating the Apogee, as I suspect they will, Swiftech would be unwise to kill the Storm IMO.

Interesting business decision if true. I would have figured they would have milked that block for all it was worth before shutting it down. Hopefully this motivates Cathar to get the G7 out sooner..?...

I hope they discontinue it so I can sell mine and get an Apogee.
What is stopping you right now? They are only 49.00 compared to 80.00 for the Storm.

I've already sunk 300 bucks into this damn setup. I guess I'm cheap and would like to recover the cost of the Storm.

I know you have a dislike for swiftech, but lets not up the price on the storm by 20$

while the swiftech storm is pretty expensive, i don't think that the roughly $200-$250 (US) G7 block is targeting the same market.

if that pricing esimate is off the mark, i trust that someone will correct me, however if the G5 is roughly $150 and the G7 has that many more jets and so much more machining going into it.......

The new MSRP has gone up to $84.95, that's one of the reasons that it was replaced in the kit........not making any money I guess. So the block has not been discontinued as for yet. Than is unless someone has seen it in writing from Swiftech and not just someone running off at the mouth.............. :D
