Disconnecting case fans?

My computer is really loud but I want to make it quieter by disconnecting the case fans. They don't really seem to be doing much; the air coming out of the back is always within two degrees of room temperature even after my computer has been running for weeks. I would of course leave the CPU and Northbridge and PSU fan connected.

The CPU is a 1.6Ghz Duron... would this work?

Keep the case fan connected. Your power supply is probably not up to the task of playing the only exhaust fan in your case. By removing that fan the hot air inside your case will likely go nowhere and your case temps will slowly rise and rise.

install a switch (or dial) for your fains and run it through that. you don't need a north bridge cooler unless you see temps >60C.

or just turn up the music.
