I dont know if this is old news or not. I had never heard of it. Today I was looking at my startup programs using this free program that allows you to remove unwanted startup programs. Anyway, I saw this HTpatch and was intrigued about it. I did some research and found out this (obviously only there if you have SiS chipset):

Program Name: HTpatch

Executable Name: htpatch.exe

Required: User's choice

Comments: HTpatch.exe is part of the SiS AGP patch - BUT unless your processor (and motherboard) supports HyperThreading (HT) and this feature is enabled it will actually SLOW your graphics card by around 6%

Dunno if its true or not. I think I will go run some benchies and see.

I wonder who would shell out for an HT enabled proc, and skimp down to an SIS chipset? 2.4c buyers, who don't plan on doing much O/Cing I suppose...

Ok, benchies:

System:

Asus P4S8X-X mobo
P4a 2.4GHz @ 2.8GHz Stock HSF/Vcore
Generic PC2100 @ 2.5,3,3,6 (yes I know its crap)
Transcend 9600Pro @ 450/350

With HTpatch
3dMark03 = 3792
3dMark01 = 11656

Without HTPatch
3dMark03 = 3788
3dMark01 = 11668

So, I guess, in my case, disregard the above post, heh. My conclusion is this is a load of crap and actually disabling the HTpatch lowered my 3dMark03 score (but not more than the normal variance between runs). Course, everyone (atleast all the reviewers) knows that 3dMarks aren't really great benchmarks anymore.

Edit: Anyone else with HTpatch wanna do some benchies?
