Dirty radiator?!

I got my WC setup today from Voyeurmods.com, and am using a heatercore for my radiator.

I began filling and bleeding the system, and once water started flowing through the radiator, it became muddy. Now there are some tiny white deposits on the inside walls of my tubing.

Is this normal? Should I disconnect my radiator and run water through it for a while to clean it out? :(

Thanks!

Sure sounds like a used core, or maybe one that wasn't cleaned after being modded for barbs.

I saw your pic in another thread, and the core looks new from what I can tell. What additives are you using??

zerex and distilled water

I took the radiator off and drained it all out (wont reuse it) and am running plain distilled water thru everything...there is still some stuff inside the tubing but I'll just deal and hope it's OK

well, depending on how busy you are (it's MIDTERM season around here) you might want to disconnect your lengths of tubing and go after that white stuff with a bottle brush........

sometimes that is normal, depending on the manufacturer and what not. It generally isn't recommended, but it should be. You should flush out your system with tap water before installing it into a PC

I filled it with 70% isopropyl and ran it for about an hour and a half..looked WAY better after that

thanks for the help!

you generally don't want to use isopropyl with plastic products, although i doubt you harmed much. It can make plastic brittle, and it will melt some acrylics...

It cracks acrylic almost on contact. Hope your system isn't blown!

D'oh! After I ran the Isopropyl through for a while I put my water back in and leak tested it...it cracked overnight, and DD said they'd send me a new top. I'll call and tell them I found out it's probably my fault :(

I had no idea it would do that! Is there any other liquid I can use to clean it in the future? I've read quite a few posts from people talking about using isopropyl...

Ive seen Isopropyl used to clean loops with success but its usually dilluted and I dont recall if the blocks were lucite or brass tops.
