I recently installed the latest update for DirectX from the microsoft website and found that I received a boost in fps in some of my games. The games that I tested were Swat 4 demo and Star Trek Legacy. My fps increased in swat 4 demo from 69 fps on the main menu screen to just over 100 fps and in game I was able to keep my fps close to 70. I also played a skirmish on star trek and was able to keep a much higher fps in large battles than before I installed the update.
After this I selected my ati trays tools in the corner of the screen and switched on the optimization for anisotropic filtering hoping to receive a further boost in fps but when running the games mentioned above again my fps was back to what it was before the DirectX update. I switched the optimization off and tryed the games again only to have the same result. I've also uninstalled tray tools and that has not made any difference.
I'm not sure whats wrong, I think its something to do with my DirectX or the catalyst 6.12 I currently have installed. My settings are resolution 1680x1050 and I have AF maxed out. Can anyone help?
Thanks
