DirectX 9 Uninstall? Giving video errors

i installed SP2 winxp the other day and it installed directx 9c for me
now all my videos are washed out (it's like the gamma is just cranked out on them)
if i turn down hardware acceleration, and turn it down so directdraw is off, then they work fine

also the intro/credit screans on my d3d games are doing the same thing (washed out, etc)

what is a good direct x 9c uninstaller? i tried a few i googled and the yweren't working
or where can i downloade the full directx 9c link?

i tried reinstalling it but what i downloaded is just the frontend and it says it's all installed good and doesn't re-install it like i want it to

Definetaly not, leave DX as is and upgrade to newer chipset and videocard drivers.

whats the videocard anyway??

i was on old drivers
ewnt to new, same thing
i seriously think it's a software Dx issue
 
You used Driver Cleaner to get rid of old nv*.dll and stuff from previous drivers?

I suggest 3 things:

  • Remove all nvidia stuff with DC and sttart fresh with the latest version

If you still have problems, then perform a clean installation of windows

  • Clean install of windows slipstreamed with SP2 using autostreamer
  • Use latest drivers for chipset / video / audio

If you get any trouble with the slipstream process, grab Autostreamer and enjoy your newly created SP2 install disk.

You described the known flaw with the 77.72 drivers from Nvidia.
Do this and your washed out videos will be fine:

"Go into the drivers and on the little menu to the left choose "Color Correction", on that locate were it says "Apply color changes to:" and switch it to "All" then click Apply at the bottom."

I got that from the 77.72 driver thread in the Nvidia section.
