direct cluster by cluster of 256mb thumb to 250gb external oops

i lost all the data on the external usb 250gb hd, i replicated a direct cluster by cluster of a usb pny thumb drive fat32 256mb on to the (was ntfs, now fat32) 250bg. i am going to try to use bartpe, to restore all the ntfs files from the 250gb. what are my chances? again the 250gb was ntfs, and after the said incident it is now fat 32

i am trying active partition recovery, ghost 8 would not work. if someone knows how to recover a deleted partition tell me, what program do you recommend.

So you lost data on the 250, and then wrote a bunch more on there? That seems like a bad idea. Why did you write more to the drive? You probably just made it harder to get anything off intact.

no there is only a 128mg partition on the external harddrive, the rest is unallocated never written to(but was a ntfs partition in the past). active partition recovery just finshed it found the partition but no files. i waited 5 hours for it to find no files
