When most websites give you the dimensions of the monitor, do they usually include the stand in the dimensions? Or is it just the dimensions of the screen?

For example, on newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824254040

The monitor dimensions are given as 22.9" x 16.6" x 7.1". Does the height value include the stand? I know the picture seems to show that it only includes the size of the monitor screen with bezel. I don't understand why they wouldn't show any information about the stand. Since my desk has an overhead shelf I have no idea if the monitor will have the clearance to fit.

I hope I don't confuse you with what I do here, but I looked at this picture on my monitor, took my tape measure, and measured the vertical height of the display area to be almost exactly 2.5". If you did the same thing, you'd probably get a different number. I know the vertical height of the display area is actually 12.05", so the picture on my screen is about 4.82 times smaller than the real thing.

16.6 divided by 4.82 = 3.44. When I measure the picture from the top of the top bezel to the bottom of the bottom bezel, I get almost exactly 3.0". When I measure from the top of the top bezel to the point where the base meets the stand, I get almost exactly 3.5" (measuring to the front edge of the base would not be valid since we are seeing the base at an angle). I therefore believe the 16.6" measurement on the picture you linked to be totally busted as a typo. I'm willing to believe that my measurements are off enough for the 16.6" to be the height of the monitor from the top of the top bezel to the bottom of the base.
