This may seem like a silly question, but how tall are each of these monitors when lowered fully?

I have a small office and often work across my desk from someone. It'd be nice to be able to see over the monitor, which I sure can't do with my 21" CRT boat anchor.

Also, if you own either of these monitors, can you provide dimensions of the screen itself, i.e. height and width of usable screen area?

Don't know the dimensions of the screens, but if you're concerned about seeing over it, get the 2005. It's about as tall as a typical 17-18" LCD, wheras the 2405 is more around the height of a 20".
 
My honkin' CRT is 21" tall, measured from the desk to the top of the plastic molding.

How does the 2405FPW compare to that?
 
Just measured my 2005fpw and when lowered fully its about 16" and at the highest position its about 20".

Of course, if you wanted to remove the stand that comes with it and use a VESA mount desk attached display arm, you could pull it down so its bottom bezel touched the desk and probably get under 16".
 
Those are sweet dimensions on the 2405......perfect except for the price. :eek: But I'll stick with the 2001fp 'cause I aint' crazy about the 2005fpw vertical dimension.
 
The Dell spec is apparently wrong in this instance -- users who've received the monitor report the lowest height setting to be 17.5" high. Check out page 45 of the thread titled "Unofficial 2405FPW Thread" (I think there is even a picture someone took with measuring tape).

Yes 17.5" is accurate, I have the 2405 and the stand lowers it alot, about 2" off the desk. But in my setup I cannot see over it. Honestly I would never buy any product based on whether I could see over it or not.
 
Actually I can see over it if I raise my chair all the way. But my chair is almost all the way down most of the time.
