Hello,
First of all I am new so if this is a stupid NEWB question...I appologize in advance.

I recently (within the past 30 days) purchased two XFX 9800GTX's and am running them in SLI on my XFX 780i board. My question is this, should I return the cards and purchase the EVGA or BFG's so that I can step up to one (or two) of the upcoming cards? I paid ~700.00 for the XFX's which would probably buy me the top of the line 200 series...but will it beat two 9800GTX's running in SLI (or is it going to significant enough)?

Thanks.....

No one knows for sure where the performance of the 200's will be at, but if you do plan on returning the 9800's then you might just want to either wait for the release of the new cards or go EVGA.

from the looks of it, it should match 9800 gtx in sli. And having one is better than two.

I think he meant that in general having a single graphics card is better than having two.

May not be a bad idea if you are planning to upgrade. EVGA's step up program is definitely nifty, and it would certainly save you some cash on your brand new GTX 280s. There is now doubt in my mind that they are going to be significantly faster. Also, the new Nvidia cards will be shipping with on board physics. However, keep in mind that you are still going to have to pay some money in order to upgrade to these cards. The step up program only offers you a discount. so if you don't plan on shelling out any more money, you may as well save your money and stick with your XFX cards.

IF you bought them locally and can return them without any penalty i would definately trade them in for evga cards. If not, you can just sell them later when the 280 comes out since they have double lifetime warranty. I went the evga option as i plan to step mine up and its easier than selling them.
