Dilemma with Audioengine A2

Hello all,

I am looking to upgrade my current audio situation substantially. I wish to purchase a pair of Audioengine A2 speakers and if necessary, a Dayton Sub-80 8" Sub to go with them. However, the speakers will only have one input when I am done with the sub but I have four sources I wish to send to the speakers. Specifically, I want to send my Macbook, record player/preamp, Wii, and 360 to the speakers and I am a bit confused as to what to do. As a plus, if noise becomes an issue for housemates, I want to be able to use my Sennheiser HD-555 with headphone amp relatively easily on all of these sources. At first, I thought about doing some annoying splitting with cables but then I realized that would heavily degrade the sound. Then after further research, I saw that I can buy a Sony SB-V40S A/V Selector which looks like is the exact solution I want minus the headphone issue.

Would this work? I still don't know what to do about the headphones. I want the behavior to be like the cheap computer speakers where you plug in headphones and it mutes the speaker output but that might be hard to come across.

In short, I want the Audioengine A2 speakers and Dayton 8" sub to output audio from my Macbook, record player/preamp, Wii, and 360 when I only have one input on the speakers. I guess if worse comes to ABSOLUTE worse, I would just be doing a lot of wire switching...

What do you guys think? Thanks for the help!

I think what you're looking for is a stereo receiver, which are reasonably cheap. And then you can get passive speakers of higher calibur

I don't want a stereo receiver though. I really had my eyes set on the A2's and the Dayton. I appreciate the help however. Thank you.

Well you can try the Sony AV Selector and see how it works. I doubt it's on par with a half-ways decent receiver, but maybe it's good enough that it won't be a problem. Just make sure you buy it from a store you can return it if you don't like it.
