Hi all.

I'm interested in making the transition from recording interviews on tape to recording them digitally and am wondering if anyone here has thoughts or experiences they'd like to share.

What are my requirements?

The unit needs to be portable (smaller is better) and have at least 1 hour of recording time (more is better).

Cost is flexible. I'd like to spend less than $300.

I'm thinking about digital recording for a couple of reasons. I like the idea of transferring recorded interviews to a computer and storing them on CD. I realize that CDs aren't an archiving medium but having digital files will give me more options than cassette tapes.

I looked into this a few years ago and the technology wasn't quite where I wanted it to be. With digital voice recorders so prevalent and (relatively) inexpensive now, I was thinking they might be an option. What I don't have is first-hand experience with any of them.
