Digital Vibrancy on Radeon?

One thing I really miss from my GeForce 4 (which is more literally incapacitated than I've ever used as a description - broken capacitor), is the digital vibrancy option.

On my LCD, the colors seem so much more washed out, bland, and boring on the 9800PRO than they were with level 1 vibrancy enabled on the GF4. I can't get even remotely suitable results with only brightess, gamma, and contrast controls in the ATI control panel. Everything just turns out washed out, overexposed, or bland/colorless.

Are there any 3rd party apps out there that could help me with this? I need something that can give me digital vibrancy - probably a setting that allows me to directly adjust color saturation on the desktop rather than just gamma.

Any ideas?

Download the color profile of your monitor from the manufacturers website. I think ATI cards already look better in those areas compared to a GeForce without the DV enabled.

But with the DV enabled, everything is so much more vibrant and alive. The colors jump out at you. I already have the Samsung definitions for my monitor. They only provide one color profile and after the GF4's colors, I'm a little spoiled and disappointed. It really makes an LCD shine.

-edit- okay admittedly, I was running in Analog and not DVI mode but if I use the DVI, it locks the contrast setting from the hardware. It would still look better with Digital Vibrancy/Color Saturation IMHO.

If you like the Digital Vibrance of a GeForce card, then you should go back to one. Other than that, ATi doesn't have it and doesn't require it.

I'm just look for a 3rd party app with similar functions...Like Powerstrip for example as a 3rd party app that can change your video settings.

And if you can repair my GeForce4 sure I'll go back lol. (Sarcasm)

Have you tried adjusting the Contrast/Brightness on the monitor rather than the ATI control panel? LCDs can be picky & look wrong if the contrast is too far away from the middle.

I'd assume you had, but your post seemed to indicate that you hadn't...

The funny thing about digital mode (DVI) is that it locks out all of the manual controls on the LCD so I literally cannot adjust contrast, etc. from the display on my own. Still, there are no color saturation specific controls.

I agree, I truely miss the Digital Vibrance setting of my Geforce4, everything seems so bland and plain now. I love the speeds that my games run at, but they just don't look nice and have that shine without the setting after I used it for so long :p

Man, you guys must have hazy eyes. My monitor doesn't need digital vibrance.

ATI doesn't have it, which is fine by me (since I calibrate my displays) but 3rd party apps may have a feature.

My laptop has the option (GeForce 2) but I don't like to use it. The colors look too bright and fake.

I had the same opinion running my GeF3 & 4, it looked odd with DigVibe enabled. Different strokes for different folks I suppose.

Well, I don't need Digital Vibrance, I've got UltraBrite on my monitor :). Absolutly lovin' this ViewSonic E90f+ SB.

I think someone wrote a DV Smartshader, search the Rage3D forums for it. Personally I don't like DV though, I prefer things to look the way they are intended to look instead of oversaturated.

Just google ICC profiles for your monitor model. Or see if your monitor came with a disk. These canned profiles aren't great but they're better than nothing. You may have to readjust once you get it loaded.
