I am currently looking for a digital slr and I found the Nikon D50, which I have really fallen in love with. I'm probably getting the camera with the kit lens for $620 (wolf camera has it listed for $650 and i pricematched at Best Buy). Does anyone have anything bad to say about this camera or should I go ahead and get it?

Go for it, I've shot with it a few times and it's great. Very easy to use. Some pics even turn out better on the D50 than they did on my D70 under the same conditions.

The only thing I didn't like is that there is only one dial which is just a pet peeve of mine.

I have one and, love it. Still playing with the programable settings. Got mine at www.abesofmain.com they change the deals all the time. Mine came with the remote and, a 512SD card. Got it for $699.

Slightly less intuitive to use than my D70 (the one dial and all) and the smaller body is not my preference. However, it's almost the same sensor as the D70/D70s (don't remember if they all use the same or not) so it'll produce good images regardless.

Not sure about anything else like AF-speed with non-AF-S lenses (the D70's AF is a little slow since the screw is dinky small, not sure if the D50 has an even weaker motor).

All in all, a nice little camera.

From what ive heard its better than the XT in many ways granted you lose 2mp but a well composed shot on a 6mp camera can to 11x14s easy I have done serveal on my DRebel. The advantages you gain a lot of X-synce speed from 1/200 sec to 1/500 a sec it may not seem like much but when your shooting dacine at a poorly lit club/bar its a major help. Also it has better metering its easy to blow the metering with ETTL-I and II, Nikons system seems to be far more advanced. Will I switch naw Im a canon !!!!!! but I like the fact that nikon and canon push each other to get better.
