Digital Power Saving Mode

When I try to play several video games (far cry 2 and a half-life mod), I can play for about 30 minutes to an hour before it crashes. The monitor's light then turns orange and the screen comes up with a message that says "Digital Power Saving Mode". I then have to turn off the computer and turn it back on in order to use it again. I asked my friend about this, and he suggested to change my power schemes in control panel to be "always on" and to update all drivers. I did both, and the problem still persists. Curiously, the crash DOES NOT occur if I'm playing Team Fortress 2.

Im fairly certain its got something to do with the monitor, as the problem only started up when I bought it. Since I did not play the two games that crash immediately when I bought the monitor, I cant be certain.

System Specs:

Windows XP
Monitor: LG Flatron W1952TQ
3.25 gb ram
Intel quad core Q6600 @ 2.4ghz
Geforce 8800 GT

Any help is much appreciated, but I am not good with computers so please explain things in very simplistic terms ;)

If the new monitor has higher resolution than your old monitor, then it is possible that your video card has increased stress placed on it which can result in two things:

1. More heat generated and your system is crashing due to excessive heat.
2. Related to #1, increased power consumption by the video card which is exceeding the limits of your PSU.

Try playing a game with the case open and a fan blowing at it. No crash means an overheating issue.

I already have a large fan blowing into the tower. Still crashes. Its also a same resolution monitor at 1440 x 900.

I also downloaded a tool that determines how hot the GPU gets when stressed, and it got up to 68 degrees celcius which I dont think is too high.
