Digital Coaxal or Analog?

Here's my issue, I got my computer set up close to my tv and entertainment system, but the thing is I want to move my control pod for my speakers closer to the TV, etc... instead of behind the couch as far as it will reach because of the length of my analog cables. I went ahead and ordered a digital coaxal cable so that I could go from the digital out on my soundcard to the digital coaxal in on my control pod for my Logitech Z5500's and have it much closer to the tv setup etc.. Will this work properly? With the digital out will I be able to hear all the sounds from my computer? Or is digital going to strictly work with games that support 5.1 and dvd's? Also if this is the case, can I buy longer analog cables meaning the green, black, and yellow that plug into my soundcard? Thanks a lot if anyone can help.

You'll get 2.1 sound on digital coax from your PC, except for apps that specifically encode the other channels, such as DVD playback, Warcraft III, and EverQuest 2. I don't know of any other apps that support it offhand. I find 6-channel analog is a much better solution.

You can certainly buy longer analog cables... they're standard cables.
 
Can anyone advise me where I could buy longer analog cables? I'm not sure where to start? What should I even search for?
