Digital Camera!

I would tend to stay away from Fuji...

What are you going to be using the camera for? Do you want something that's bigger (read: clunky) or do you like small and thin?

What's your price range 200-300?

The Kodak one you have is a better camera then the Fuji, but I can probably recomend others if you give me a little more information.

I love my Fuji S7000. For the pricepoint, it's the best point-and-shoot SLR-like camera out there. I didn't think I was going to care for it much since I'm such a big fan of Canon (and I REALLY wanted a Rebel when they came out), but I've been nothing but completely pleased with my camera.

Do you use an xD or a CF/MD? I've had some bad experiences with xD memory cards.... That's realy what I don't like the cameras, not because of the camera itself, but because of the memory cards.

yea my price range is around 200-300 and i'll be using the camera for stuff like ebay, family photos, and anything else that i feel that i can use the camera for lol

i think im gunna get the Kodak Easyshare V570 it seems to be a fun choice because of the dual lense action. It can do a 180 degree panorama which i find pretty sweet!

xD. The only problem that I've encountered is that most media card readers on computers don't recognize it. In that respect, I wish it was SD.

yea... that's another reason why i was going to go with the kodak...cause it uses SD/MM

the hell is this crap.. i just got enough money to buy the camera but newegg raised the price to 359.99.. that's a 100 dollar raise.. wtf mate!...I mean geez it's now more expensive on newegg's site than kodak's site... that ain't right!

I have to recommend the Canon SD600

Pros
-Really small, but still has a solid feel, and 3x optical zoom
-6.1 megapixels.
-very easy point and shoot
-movie quality is excellent (I'm not kidding, i prefer them to my panasonic videocam)
shots turns out nice ,quick feature correction/selection
-iso 800 settings
-other good stuff

cons
-not very much in terms of a HUD
-doesnt mention much about the cameras stats ... battery life :(, megapixel choice, etc

I bought it for about $400 CDN. And was advised many times over, that it was a waste of money (a digital camera in general, as one was already available in my household)

But after coming home from Greece, I have to say it was the best decision ever... (a 4gb sd card for $150 is quite nice too)

Just my thoughts

I just got the Canon SD630 (same as SD600 above ^^ but with a larger lcd) from Newegg last week when it was on sale for $278. This thing is tiny but it really takes sharp pics with good color and contrast. I haven't even begun to use the manual adjustments but I can only see it getting better. The small size makes it perfect to slip in the little leather case I got separately and just pop it in my front jeans pocket.

edit- Most all digicams come with a uselessly small SD memory card...you'll want to factor the cost of a 512-1GB card into your total purchase price.

all this talk about the canon sd600.. i'd had all ready made up my mind on the kodak.. mostly cause of the dual lense feature..and the fact that the 180 degree panaroma would be fun to use

I don't think Kodak cameras usually are reviewed well. Dual lenses may be great, until you realize that neither of them work nearly as well as something you'd get from a Nikon, Sony, or Canon.

The longer I've had my SD630 the more I like it. I've had other digicams but this is my first Canon...I now understand why they are so popular. I highly recommend paying a little extra for the SD630 vs the SD600 because the larger lcd (and removal of the useless viewfinder) is very much worth it.

i really want the kodak camera.. i held one in my hands and this thing is wicked small and compact. this is one of the very few times where newegg dissapoints me. I mean really 259.99 -> 359.99 thats crazy... for 359.99 i can buy the 7.1 megapixel version of this camera @ kodak.com; however i don't want to spend that much :( .

I emailed newegg and this is what they replied back with:

what is this craP?.. i mean really crap crap crap

Technically speaking Kodak cameras usually aren't as good as say Canon/Sony (being the top two in my view). That's not to say they're bad cameras at all though.

The kodak is a great camera with nice features. Just realize that 'technically' it isn't as good as camera, meaning the sensor might be more prone to 'noise' or, if you zoom in the picture real close, a pixel that's suppose to be red ends up being purple instead. But, if you're not going to be using this for anything professional, and a point and shoot, something to throw in your pocket and just e-mail and print on 4x6/8x10 the kodak is a great general purpose camera.

I say get it if you can a good price for it Hax. As long as you are not doing anything professional or major photo-editing.

i like the size of this camera..and as long as it takes better photos than this kodak easyshare cx7430.. as for price.. the only price i'd be willing to go for .. is the original price i had intended to pay for on newegg. Right now i'll just wait it out.. if the price goes down .. yippee. if not im only saving money.. so i may just cash out on new computer hardware...the race is on

Personally, I just purchased a Canon S3 IS about 2 months ago. It is the best point and shoot camera I have ever purchased. Yes I wanted to buy a DSLR - but I am waiting until my photography skills get up to par to drop that much cash on a camera. The Canon S3 IS has been very good to me so far. The picture quality is outstanding. I am not that great at photography - but here is the first image I took with this camera after taking it out of the box.

Personally, I just purchased a Canon S3 IS about 2 months ago. It is the best point and shoot camera I have ever purchased.

That's a GREAT camera, although it's not really a 'point and shoot' per-say. It high a huge optical and nice megapixel, but it's bulky and has some features a strict point-and-shoot lacks. This isn't to say it's not a bad camera, but more of a camera for a 'beginer photographer' that bridges the gap between DSLR and Point and Shoot they're called 'Zoom Cameras' for lack of a better calssification.

So, apparently my schools fire alarm went off. I'll post more in an edit.

Anyway....

For Hax, I don't think he wants big/bulky nor does it seems like he'll be intrested in some of the more 'advanced' features on the camera.

The 3IS is a GREAT camera, but not worth it if you don't know how to use it's features.

as for an advance camera... heck yea i want one with good features.. but that's something i will buy later down the road for intensive picture taking. In the mean time.. all these cameras look great and all.. but i just want this pocket camera.. go to your local walmart and check this kodak camera out.. it's super tiny and sleek... if it takes even the slightest resemblance of the picture that was intended im going to buy it. im well aware of the good manufacturers of digital cameras.. kodak has always been not one of those choices for me atleast.. i'm just being really stubborn here lol.

currently the camera is still overprice on newegg; however, did find the same camera on tigerdirect for 100 bucks less and brand new... so i just buy it there
