ive done some research and im probably going to purchase the SD200 soon. I've found that i can get it on ebay for under 200 brand new. Its only 3.2mp but its fine for what ill use it for. Ill rarely be developing any pictures and ive heard that 3mp is fine for 4 x 6 pictures. Are there any other comparable cameras in this price range? under 150 would be good also.

it just needs to be small enough to easily fit inside my pocket.

I am also looking for a decent digital camera under $200. I don't need anything really special. I just want to be able to take decent pictures. It will mainly be used for your "capturing the moment" type pictures. Where's a good place to start looking?

I am looking at the Canon Powershot A510 or A520 right now. I have read a lot of good reviews about it and I think I am leaning towards this right now.

how are they compared to the sd200 and the sd300? I currently have the nikon coolpix 4200 (actually, its my parents) and i hate it. small ass screen and well i just dont like it overall.

Well, my budget went down a little so now I am looking at the Canon Powershot A410. Features don't seem much different than the A510 and A520.

I found a good deal on a Powershot A510 with 256MB SD card, so I bought it. I'll let you know how I like it in a couple weeks.

Canon Powershot A510

I went with the Essential package at the bottom of the page. It comes with a 256MB SD card, carrying case, and lens cleaning kit for $198. Sounded like a decent deal to me.

I finally got my A510. I haven't taken any pictures yet, but I have a day off tomorrow. I will snap some then.

I just got a A510 yesterday, and I'm loving it. Its my first digital camera, so I really don't have a basis for comparison. It gets a lot of praise as the best option in the $150-$200 range. I'm going to have to get a book or something on basic photography.

My thoughts (I'll add more after I get more use out of it):

its built very well
