I need some recommendations for a digi cam.
Im looking for something semi-pro and mid range.
I am looking at the Nikon Coolpix and Canon Powershot series and I would like some recommendations on specific models
Im looking at between 5 and 7 MP, and really good opti and digi zoom (around how much is good zoom? I really am not sure)
Im looking to spend around $250-400 us on this and the lower the better of course :)
Thanks in advance for any help :)

Canon S2 IS, comes with 12x optical zoom and a builtin image stabilizer....

wow
i just checked out the Canon S2 IS and its crazy!
i think im going to buy one :)
thx for the info

I really love the S2. Almost as good as a DSLR, makes a great backup camera especially when you do not want to carry a lot of lens around...

What did you get it for? I only see a big "$1500" price on this, and the buy-it-now for $600... DPreview says the camera alone is $500, so if you really get all of these accessories for ~$600 it looks like a nice deal.

To be honest, I generally recommend cameras in a B&M store, but if you got a good deal on the accessories (~$600) I'd say it sounds alright.

Edit: Realized the $1500 was the claimed MSRP, not the ending price. I can't locate the ending price...

the ending price was $628us
great deal imo :)
im lucky that i found this deal a few moments before it ended lol

yea i had a limit because i was looking for the camera to buy first and then look for a kit later on
in this case i was very lucky to find an entire kit for a great price so i spent the extra $$
i used some of my SFF build funds :)
now i have to save some of my college daily allowance :)

I too, have been saving up for the last month(from working on peoples computers on the side) and have $300 so far... I want $500 or so before I buy.... I am seriously looking at the Fujifilm F10 and a couple 1GB xD cards.
