Digital camera (Canon A75) as a webcam?

Zoom browser allows you to see what your cam sees in a nice window when you plug in your cam with usb. Hey, that's just like a webcam :| Ain't there a way I could use this as a webcam? I don't have a video in card, but zoom browser does it with usb, so it's definitely possible.

Can't it be used as a webcam? ANy ideas?.

if youve got a tv out on the camera you can use a tv tuner card like the leadtek tv2000 series to use the camera as a webcam, just select the tuner card as the input device when you set up the webcam software. Works fine with my olympus C4000. Obviously you would need a separate microfone plugged into your soundcard too.

Unfortunately, most digital cams will not work as webcams when connected through the USB connection, since the lens will remain inoperative - in other words, the USB connection is only good for transferring already recorded stills and/or video to your PC. The only way that digital cameras would work as webcams is if you buy a separate video capture card or a videocard that has video-capture functions built-in, and you use the direct A/V outputs rather than USB to output the video. If all that is too much trouble for you, then your best bet for a webcam is to buy a cheap, dedicated webcam that's designed to sit on top of your computer monitor.
