I started 3-4 days ago.

anyone have suggestions on getting the most from my A64 3000+ ?? I mean config settings in F@H. Overclocking will come later. :p . It's going about 30 mins per frame. good? bad?

30 minutes depends on whatever protein you are folding. To get more...........turn on big wu and run the console.

Goat,

Start a new thread telling us what you are running on your 3000+ and we can suggest some optimizations.

need to know things like what OS? Is it a laptop or desktop? Memory? What processes you have running, etc......
 
Good to see we got noobies. Now if they all just stay folding. Ever notice how we have about 400 members that stopped before they got to 10K points or even 20 WUs. Since our total user base is about 2000 more then the other 2 teams up top too bad only about 15% of them actually are active users. :( Each of the others have around 20% of the total.

 
Hey, I'm really just a noobie too....Or maybe more like a Sophmore, but has anyone told the new guys about the initiation?

Agreed. It's really too bad that many of them won't ever get involved in the community either, as its really a great way to really get that borging bug. If it weren't for the group around here, I'm not too sure I'd still be folding, but you guys make it more than worthwhile.

I switched to team 33 this month. I think I've completed 3 WU this month already one being one of the 2500s. Now if I could get my dad to leave his PC on I'd have him folding too. He's so lame, I told him he needs to leave it on and like a little kid he says "I don't want too." He doesn't know crap, I built the machine so it's mine, I just let him use it dammit.

Who paid for the parts, who pays for the electricity and your room & board? I'm guessing he does, so as much as we all think he should leave the computer on 24/7 and even though you did build the computer for him, it's his house and you live in it, so you can't complain.

 
Joined a week ago... already got 1 WU up (3 failed, measley points) and 2 coming in around 3 am tomorrow. Running the client because A) they are my and my GF's only comps and B) it does make a handy screen saver.

I want to get the usb/thumb drive version working so I can b0rg the schools computers. It's my first term there but I got more clout cause my gf just got her A.A. there (woot!) Still don't know if I can. But I'm going to try. But until then, can someone point me in the direction of setting up the usb F@H?

ive been bitten by the bug and all of my major clients are now jumping on the bandwagon.

After tonight I will have 28 borgs running 24/7 for the [H]

It has actually sunken in what the true reason why we fold after doing some work for a cancer patient who is clinging onto life.

I have actually seen that comment though on other forums when Folding is mentioned.

Anyway....I am a noobie to Folding, I think I joined earlier this month. Good to be doing something for other people with my computer.

Followed the link and I have no idea what that is all about, but oh well...still Folding like a noob and that is ok by me. :D

Today I just set up the text-only console on a usb HD that I carry around w/ me everywhere. I just downloaded it onto the drive and started it up, went through the configuration and let it sit (didn't install as a service like I normally do w/ the console). It's got all the sub directories and files right on the drive and seems to be working right.

But if anyone has tips as to how to set it up properly let us know ...
