diffrence between p4 2.4 and 3.0

im planning to build a computer for gaming

manly doom 3 and battlefield

is their a big diffrence in gameplay with these two. obviously the 3.0 is better but is it even a noticable diffrence

Depends on the vid card you are using. When you're talking about a gaming computer, obviously the majority of your performance is dependent on your vid card. But the CPU is critical for feeding the vid card and avoiding a bottleneck so that the vid card is performing up to it's full potential. If you're talking about like a 6800nu and lower, i think a 2.4 with a little OC would be fine. 6800gt or higher, the 2.4 would definitely be a bottleneck.

like the poster before me said, its more or less going to depend on your video card, go with the 2.4 and oc it so you can save a little and get a better card imo
