is there a differnce between an 8mg cache and a 16 mg cache on sata hard drives?

Of course there's a difference. However, performance is still dependent on other factors aside from just the cache size. Which two drives are you trying to decide on?

Fry's usually has deals on HDDs. Last weekend they had the 320GB Seagates (16MB Cache) for $70. I got my 300GB Seagates there, too, for $60 each. Just check out the deal sites like fatwallet.com (hot deals forum), slickdeals.net, bensbargains.net, and even the hot deals subforum here.

MB = Megabytes
mg = milligrams

I would also put in my vote for the Seagate 7200.10 320GB. You should be able to get one for close to $70.

Peace
