In a recent build I rushed too much, I accidently put a 3Gb/s Westerd Digital SATA hard drive on a mainboard that only supports 1.5Gb/s. Is this perhaps the cause of the massive instability I've been experiencing? If it's not a problem, then I have many questions for the [H]orde. Let's start with that one.

Memtest gave me no troubles, and all signs point to no problems power-wise.
It all started when I was installing the display drivers for the Radeon X550 PCI-E. It wouldn't install .net and from there things went downhill. First a few display errors, but eventually i couldn't even install any programs. I just popped the drive into another computer, and it ran flawlessly, so I don't think it's the drive anymore.
Most likely culprit at this point is the Motherboard. It's a brand new DFI nF4-DAGF. Anyone have any experiences with this stuff? How can i find out if the problem is the Mobo, Vid card, or PSU?
Most recent problem: trying to re-format and re-install XP Pro. Got multiple file copy errors during the part of installation right after reformatting. Not a good sign.

Check your voltages with a multimeter. Also, what brand is your power supply?
PSU's a COOLER MASTER eXtreme Power RS-430-PMSR/P
Update: On a whim I tried a re-installation again, with a different DIMM of RAM I had lying around. No problems so far. Perhaps Memtest lied to me and the chips are faulty? Anyone familliar with Patriot ram?
