I was moving my computer, so I disconnected everything on my computer...

now, I have 2 power cords, one is for the monitor and the other is for my powersupply... and I forgot which one goes to which :(

I can tell one is thicker than the other, and have different names

I have a dell 2005 widescreen monitor... can someone tell me what it says on the plug?
cause one of them says "longwell" on it, I guess that's the brand...

the other just has some numbers on it

it seriously doesn't matter.. computer power cords are all the same.. some are black, some are beige.. some are thicker.. but they all work.. as long as they have the same connector on the end...

If it really does matter to you I also have a dell moniter and it came with a longwell powercord but all computer powercords are the same as long as they have the IEC Connecton on one end (To Computer) and a NEMA 5-15P (To Wall receptacle) on the other

Hmm.. I thought some were a different gauge... I heard using a cord that came with a old 100 watt or whatever power supply could be bad if you tried to use it on a 700w powersupply as the wires couldn't hold up to the current and would get hot and melt..

That said.. I've never really had a problem using whatever cord I could find around the house

Yes some are of a different wire gauge the minumim gauge aloud for AC power cords is 18 Gauge wheither its a 2 prong or a 3 prong plug which can handle 10AMPS of current with out melting so your cord must of had a problem or been damaged. Most Computer Power Cords or 18/3 SVT Round Cord. But I have a whole box of computer power cords from a computer show that went out of business and was throwing them away so I took them and I have a coupple that are 16/3 and 1 14/3 but most of them are 18/3 SVT Black or beige or white
