Different games different GPU temperatures?

Why is it that my video cards (SLI'd 7800gtx 512) have different temperatures in different games?

For example, in FEAR my highest peak tempreatures are 82/84
In Quake 4, they're about 73/76
In Vampire: Bloodlines, they're 66/69

?

edit: i don't mean that the cards have different temperatures, I mean that they produce GPU temperatures that are higher in some games and really low in others?

If you have transistors dedicated to providing a specific function, and the game you're running doesn't use those functions, then those transistors will be gated off and not generate any heat.

^^ what he said.

When Doom 3 was coming out, John Carmack said it might have issues with overclocked GPU's because the game would be using certain transistors that have never been used before, thus creating more heat.

Also possibly because of the physical positions of the cards. One may have better airflow around it because the other card is very close to it.

also, Vampire are cold blood being, and they hate heat and sun as you have seen in the X-files. :D

Try Lost Coast with everything on. That should get temperatures up there!
