Different brands, same OEM. Is it the same?

I'm between a XFX Pro Series 1050W and a Seasonic X-1050.
Apparently the XFX is based on the Seasonic x-1050 and the XFX is like 10$ cheaper. Other than different fans and different metal box, is there any difference between those?
Could the xfx have made improvements or disimprovemnts?

They're essentially identical in every way except the company that supports them. And from what I've heard, XFX support is on the poor side while Seasonic is great.

AS was stated in another thread, just because the two use the same OEM doesn't mean they are going to be the same quality.

Go for seasonic, they have much better customer support and their products are much better in build quality, XFX used them for OEM but the build quality will be not identical to seasonic.

I would go with Seasonic as well. Great customer service will make the difference if you ever have any issues with the PSU down the line.

I would recommend Seasonic, every computer I (except one) is a Seasonic PSU. :) Other one is EVGA.

It depends.

I have a 620W Antec made by Seasonic, but it contains cheapo Teapo brand capacitors, while the Seasonic branded 620W instead has better Japanese capacitors. OTOH a long time ago, some PSUs made by Channel Well Technology were better if they were Antec brand than CWT brand.

The brands often spec the components to the individual OEM to meet a target audience/price point. So the design of the power supply may be mostly the same, but there might be different fans, wiring configurations, or capacitors (as larrymoencurly noted). It could be a better design or a cheaper one--read reviews on both to be sure. I like buying the designs directly from the OEM myself and I've had great experiences with Seasonic for which it's worth (running a 660XP2 right now).

Well, that is a depends. Antec's used to bake of caps like no one's business in the old TruPower and SmartPower days.

Well, I thought the whole Antec Caps issue was the horse shit FUFUFUFUFUFU caps they used. Throw some NCC or Nichis in there and those old Truepowers are friggan solid.

High temps don't help caps, but those Fuhjyyus failed even in storage at room temperature, while the Sanyo caps I replaced them with a few years ago have been holding up well, despite probably running in higher heat because they're fatter than the Fuhjyyus and have to be crammed more tightly. Also my much older Delta PSUs aren't exact sparse inside, but their NCC, Nichicon, and Rubycon caps are still like new.
