what's the different between CHAINTECH nVIDIA GeForce 6800 GT, Albatron nVIDIA GeForce 6800 GT, XFX nVIDIA GeForce 6800 GT, Leadtek nVIDIA GeForce 6800 GT, ect.?

Some are "Overclocked" like BFG 6800GT. Rather then the 350/1000 it could be 370/1050 or what ever it is.

the numbers 350/1000 mean corespeed and effective speed?... and isn't it dumb to buy an overclocked VC when you can overclock it yourself?

Core speed/mem speed. And maybe someone still wants a warranty, overclocking your video card voids your warranty (correct me if im wrong).

Other than the clocking thing, I would say it comes down to quality control, reliability, and manufacturer support after the sale being the the most important difference (everything else being equal). I don't see alot of difference in performance between cards.

It's never dumb to buy an overclocked videocard...it's not like they cost extra.

Also i would have to say its what you get with teh card, the bundle is another important thing. Comapnies like PNY and BFG just gives you a manual and a driver disk. Other companies like MSI, and Chaintech give you game demos and sometimes full games!

also.. i have a thing with how boxes look. I like the LEadtek boxes, and chaintech has some nice boxes, same with MSI.

and some overclock better than others

though really it depends card by card what you can get

but yeah, what's in the box, any fancy HSF's on the card etc.. quality, oc ability, if the card is OC'd by default

Not if they *Can't* Tell if you overclocked it.
