Hi, I getting a 9300 but my budget is tight, so I was wondering what exactly is the diference between the Wide Screen XGA and the more expensive UltraSharp™ Wide Screen UXGA screens... and if the 125 dollar difference is worth it?....

There is a big difference, actually. WXGA (1280x800?) is a vide version of 1024x768. WUXGA (1920x1200) is a wide version of 1600x1200. Hope that helps.

Couple of differences

WUXGA is native 1900-1200
WXGA is 1440-900

WUXGA is matted thus has a coating on it, Glossy affect, some like it, others don't. I have the WUXGA ads like it. Once you get used to the resolution, you can never go back.

WXGA is not matted, but in terms of color, vieweing angels ect.. the screens barely differ. Gamming in non native res looks fine, no problems in IMO. I say if you can get the WUXGA, but if it means not getting the 6800Go, I would get the the WXGA and the 6800Go card.

whoops...then WXGA is 1440x900...anyway...IMO, it's worth the extra $125. I used the Dell XPS Gen 2, which has the WUXGA screen, and it is really incredible.

I read somewhere that WXGA can handle different res natively and WUXGA cant...is that so, because I doubt F.E.A.R would run on that system in the high res of WUXGA... thats something else to consider...wouldn´t performance be less on WUXGA than WXGA at the resolutions each can support natively....?

Actually, WXGA on this laptop is 1440x900. I have that laptop/screen combo and that is what Dell ships it with.

WXGA resolution can vary depending on the size of the screen. WXGA basically means wide screen, the aspect ratio is 16:9 or 16:10 versus the more box like 4:3 aspect ratio of a standard laptop. If you're a movie fanatic who wishes you could watch that great DVD collection while on the road/plane/lunch break then you may want to take a look at laptop computers with this type of screen. There are variations on this such as WSXGA or WUXGA which are wide screen versions of the higher resolution modes.

I play all my games at 1440x900 on my WUXGA screen. The screen scales pretty well so long as you stay with the 16:10 ratio (i.e.- 1440x900, 1680x1050)

And yes, the WXGA is 1440x900 while the WUXGA is 1920x1200 on these Dell 17" notebooks

It's WXGA+ that's 1440x900, not WXGA.

WXGA on laptops is 1280x768 or 1280x800 (the latter being true 16:10 ratio). TV's have an aspect ratio of 16:9, which is why WXGA for TV's is 1366x768.
