My second 6870 arrived from Newegg yesterday and I noticed on the box that it's Rev 1.1. My first 6870 (bought in Nov/Dec last year from Buy.com) is Rev 1.4. Also, the newegg card has a much lower serial number- 4-digit versus 5-digit on the new card.

Both cards are model HD-687A-ZNFC.

Does anyone know what differences there might be between the two? And, coincidently, how does Newegg have such old stock on a card that was sold out for weeks at it's launch?

This morning I put a ticket in with XFX and already got a reply:

[*TECH_NAME* 3/22/2011 3:21:15 PM] Hi Iain, The different revisions just use slighty different parts, you dont need to change out or update any BIOS revisions. They will work fine together in crossfire.

Oddly enough if this reply time is any indication he's in the UK (or somewhere in that timezone like Morocco, Portugal...)
