Difference in quality between USB headset and standard stereo headset?

I work at BB and can get a major discount so the choice needs to be one of these two. I can get the USB one for $31 and the regular one for $13. I was told that the USB one has much better quality, is there a big difference? I'll be using it soley for playing WoW and using Ventrilo.

USB headphones are generally cheap and sound like they are.

Yeah, "USB is better quality" is frankly bullcrap. Think of it like this: you're paying an extra $13. whoopee. but that extra $13 has to pay for basically an entire sound card in the headphones. Unless your sound card is really, really, really terrible, the USB headset will likely sound worse, not better.

It does have the advantage of appearing to the system as a separate audio device, though, which makes configuration much less of a headache. That's why I have a USB phone handset for my PC - configuration convenience. Music goes to my soundcard, skype / ekiga / other speech stuff goes to the handset. simple.
