I just upgraded my rig to a DFI NF4 SLI-DR, 3500 Venice. I just bought an BBA X800XL ( was just going to hold me off till G520) But now a few people are selling the x850xt (says it can do xt pe speeds) and a legit x850xt pe. Im only wondering, would it be worth to sell my new x800xl and go with the x850xt(just oc to get to pe) or x850xt pe.

The only difference between both x850's are the clock speeds?

Yep.
Only the clock speeds.

EDIT:
According to ATI's comparison chart, the X850 XT-PE has dual DVI and the X850 XT has one DVI and one VGA.

I think some X850 XT's have dual DVI though.
If that is important to you I would make sure about that fact.

ATI says they both do.
If you are positive though, maybe ATI's chart is wrong.

ATI's compare page.

EDIT:

Ok apparently the X850 XT AGP has VIVO, the PCI E version does not.

So what we have learned so far:

Card-------------------Core------Mem------Outputs--------------------------VIVO
X850 XT-PE---------540-------590---------Dual DVI------------------------Yes
X850 XT AGP------520-------540----------sometimes dual DVI-------Yes
X850 XT PCI E-----520------540----------sometimes dual DVI--------No

I dont even see an X850XT PCIE on ati's page. When I click it, it says its agp. Piece of junk

They list whatever cards they feel like listing.
They continually remove cards and add cards to the compare list.

You would think they could get a web master that knows WTF the company has!

I think it has to do with a sales strategy.

Ati Sales guy - "Lets post only some of our cards on the web site, then people will read the site not find what they are looking for and then search the whole site!"

Ati Sales guy # 2 - "Better yet let post the card they are looking for only for a few hours when there is a full moon!"

Ati Web Master - "Then just to fuck with them further, i'll make sure the site only works every other week or so. People will go to DL drivers or find info and the page wont display!"

All - EVIL LAUGHING!
:D

Do you really need to upgrade? I would seriously just hold off until the X800XL doesn't meet your needs anymore, I mean it can play like all games at 16x12 with AA and AF just fine, do you really NEED the X850XT (or PE)?

Do people really need a 7800GTX when the 6800U is just fine?
The Answer is YES!
For no other reason than to have the latest best thing!

We all know that everyone who browses this forum has a small ePenis unless they have the latest and greatest.

To answer the Original poster's question:

I think right now for you, the best bet would be to stay with the X800XL. The X850 XT's are only marginally faster and they cost alot more. I'd say...if you want just try overclocking your X800XL to the X850 XT speeds. Have that tie you over until the new R520 comes out. All-in-all you would be saving money by keeping the X800 XL until the R520 arrives...

Now about the VIVO on X850 XT's. I can tell you first hand that it supports both dual DVI and VIVO because I literally have one sitting next to me right now. :D Just go onto newegg and search for the X850 XT with Dual DVI and VIVO and you'll find a bunch....they are however higher priced then the DVI + VGA cards though.
