Difference between x1600 and x1650

Hey, I'm still in AGP land, gonna give my vid card one final upgrade for the year and next year I'll prolly be building a PCI-E rig. I was going for the Sapphire x1600 512 card for $130, but found a Diamond Viper X1650 512 for $170. So which is the better card?

Keep in mind I do NOT want an nVidia card. I'm pretty well a fan of Ati, and not interested in nVidia cards. Just a quirk I have, I'd rather support ati than nVidia. So just got the 1600 or spring a few more bucks for the 1650, and what are the differences?

So out of these two cards which should I buy?

Oh, for the love of God please do not get the X1600. I have one and it is a piece of shit.

I can't really give any advice regarding the X1650, but I do believe that [H] reviewed that card somewhere, search for it, and if I remember correctly, it got decent reviews. It may have been the PCIe version though.

But again, do not, under any circumstances waste any cash on the X1600.

Well, the 1650 has a few more shaders. Nothing to go nuts over. You'll be better picking up a X1900GT or X1950Pro.

X1650 no doubt!
And as digital_exhaust already mentioned, forget about X1600 cards. They are not worth the money it's charged for them.

X1650 trades blows with NVIDIA's 7600 GT, so they're essentially the same. The 7600 GT is cheaper though, so I would recommend that, but since you are such a die hard ATI fan, go with the X1650 XT.

*cough*

As said before, the X1600 is a POS unless you have a special need for it. The X1650 XT is about as fast as the 7600GT but it generally costs more. NewEgg has one for the same price ($190), however, so check it out there. Unfortunately, it's currently out of stock but it'll probably be back in a few days.

Honestly, though, ATI/nVidia brand loyalty makes no ideological/financial sense.

Make sure to get the X1650 XT, by the way. The XT is much, much better than the Pro (which itself is little better than the X1600 series). Also, 512MB is unnecessary for such a card; 256MB should be fine.

The X1650 PRO is essentially the same (has the same specs) as the X1600 XT. The X1650 XT is essentially the same (again, has the same specs) as the X1800 GTO.

Well....if I were to go with nVidia (really would rather net)....what is the difference between the x1650 and the 7800GS? Is the 7800GS the most powerful AGP card?
