I noticed newegg sells twin packs of ram, i believe for dual channel capability motherboards, but they are usually more expensive buying them in these twin packages than if you bought the sticks seperately... What i was wondering is, if i wanna buy two seperate individual sticks of the same amount and brand of ram, can i still run them dual channel, or will i have to buy these twin packs of ram? what i'm asking is, do they make ram that is specifically for dual channel (such as these twin packs)?

Nothing except they are guarenteed to be identical sticks so they should work well together. That is not to say that two sticks of say Corsair pc3200 of the same model purchased separately won't work together just fine.

Mostly, it is just a marketing gimmick.

It means they're tested together. Also, twin packs are usually more expensive than individual sticks.
